Code Signal Drums Heads

UK drum head manufacturer Code have launched a new ranch called Signal which join their rapidly growing product range.

Code are a relatively recent addition to the drum head market, and I believe the only manufacturer based wholly in the UK. Although the heads themselves are manufactured overseas, Code “finish” the heads by hand in the UK before despatch and they do actually manufacture some of their other products in this country.

The Signal heads are the latest addition to the Code range. Code believe these are their strongest and most resilient heads to date, which makes them perfect for those hard hitters amongst us, or maybe those that don’t like changing their heads too often (who me?). They’re constructed using a single 14 mils PET film ply, held in place with Code’s unique Grip-Tight TM rim technology. These are a versatile head, equally at home on a snare, toms or kick. The kick heads had a damping ring built in to help control overtones and work fine undamped, if that’s your thing. They produce warm tone with depth and plenty of attack and are available in a coated or a smooth white finish.

The Code website www.codeheads.co.uk includes a number of demo videos which really show off the range of heads and their various characteristics (the Signal heads were not on the site at the time of writing). I recommend using a decent set of headphones to do justice to the depth of tones. I guess you might expect them to sound pretty awesome on the manufacturers website but sound awesome they do, and enough for me to want to try them out when I next change my heads (they’re due about 2035).

It’s also worth mentioning that Code heads are noticeably cheaper that some of the bigger brands and it’s a good time to support a new British business.

Code do not sell directly to the public so contact your local dealer to give them a try.
