Shure MV7 Podcast Microphone

Shure are arguably the best-known microphone brand in the UK. The SM58’s is the go-to live vocal mic for and singers bands up and down the country and the SM57’s an essential all-rounder instrument mic. Robust and reliable and wonderfully affordable, they have justified their loyal following over the years. They are quite rightly an industry standard.

It’s unsurprising then that a new product attracts attention and the launch of the new Shure MV7 is well worthy of it.

The Shure MV7 Dynamic Microphone has been specifically designed for the online world with streamers, vocalists and podcasters in mind. Coming at a time (Autumn 2020) when live music is effectively redundant due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this product will be welcomed by the many musicians whom have turned their performances to purely online, albeit temporarily (Note. Shufflewire features our own virtual performance space).

The MV7 is the first Shure microphone in their MOTIV range to feature an analogue XLR output and is available in silver or black. It also includes Shure background noise limiter VIT (Voice Isolation Technology) and ALM (Auto Level Mode) which automatically controls gain and compression. The mic can also be optimised for near or far settings depending on your recording situation.

Highlights include:

  • USB and XLR output to allow digital or analogue recording.
  • Directional dynamic element and voice isolation technology.
  • Intuitive touch panel for control over gain, monitoring volume, headphone mix, and mic muting.
  • Built-in headphone output allows for direct headphone monitoring while recording.
  • Optimized frequency response for rich and natural vocal reproduction.
  • Interfaces with the ShurePlus MOTIV Desktop Application for access to audio processing.
  • Auto-Level Mode automatically adjusts gain and compression settings.
  • Switchable EQ filters to adjust audio tone colour.
  • Options to save custom user pre-sets.
  • Rugged, all-metal construction for outstanding reliability.
  • Adjustable integrated yoke for easy positioning on standard 5/8″-27 threaded stands or booms

In conclusion, at £259.00 RRP this is a lot of microphone for the money. It’s user friendly, robust and well made. We say it’s a sound investment for anyone planning to perform online.
